San Diego Iaido is the home of authentic, traditional Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu 無双直伝英信流 (MJER) in Southern California. Iaido is a form of samurai fighting arts using the katana to respond to threats while the sword is still in the sheath.
Iaido is not kendo or kenjutsu – it is using the samurai sword to strike opponents from the draw, rather than facing them with a ready sword. It was made to respond to an ambush or to kill an enemy before he can kill you.
Iaido develops many skills - situational awareness, patience, decisiveness, and physical stamina and control. Plus, samurai swords are cool.
